Learning translation for lessons and parent–teacher talks
With the Learning scene, Tolkivo translates a conversation with a tutor, a language exchange partner or a teacher live, in both directions, on one device. The original and translation stay side by side, so you can see how a sentence is said in the other language.
Before the lesson or the talk
Choose your two languages and the Learning scene. Tolkivo adapts its wording to courses, questions, explanations and practice, so subject names and study terms come out more accurately. For a parent–teacher talk, list the questions you want to ask in advance.
During the conversation
Place the phone or tablet between you and speak in turns. In a language exchange, try the sentence in the other language first, then compare it with the translation on the screen. In a parent–teacher talk, ask the teacher to pause after each point so you can read it.
After the conversation
The conversation is saved as text on your device, with every original sentence next to its translation. Reread it as study material, or ask for AI review to list the explanations, the practice that was suggested and the dates that were mentioned. You can export it as PDF, Markdown or plain text.
Example: a parent–teacher talk
How is my daughter doing in Japanese class?
日本語の授業で、娘はどんな様子ですか。
会話はとても上手になりました。漢字の読み書きは、もう少し練習が必要です。
Her conversation has improved a lot. She needs a little more practice reading and writing kanji.
What can we do at home to help?
家では何をすればいいですか。
毎日10分、教科書を声に出して読むといいと思います。
I think reading the textbook aloud for 10 minutes every day would help.
I see. When is the next kanji test?
わかりました。次の漢字テストはいつですか。
来週の金曜日です。範囲は、今日お渡しするプリントに書いてあります。
It is next Friday. The range is written on the handout I will give you today.
What AI review picks up from a learning conversation
For a lesson or a school talk, AI review gathers what was explained and what was suggested. Context hints can also describe the likely tone of a phrase, which helps when a teacher expresses something indirectly.
- The explanations the teacher or partner gave, with a link to the original sentence
- Practice or homework that was suggested, and how often
- Dates that were mentioned, such as a test or the next lesson
- Questions you asked that did not get a clear answer
Tips for learning conversations
- In a language exchange, turn on read-aloud to hear how the translated sentence sounds.
- Ask the other person to say a new word once more, slowly, and compare the two versions on the screen.
- After the conversation, reread the saved text and mark the sentences you want to practise.
- A translation shows one way to say something, not the only correct way. For grades, enrolment and other formal school decisions, confirm the details in writing with the school.
Questions people ask before they start
Can I use Tolkivo to practise speaking a language?
Yes, as a support tool. Speak in the language you are learning and compare what Tolkivo recognized and translated with what you meant. It does not grade your pronunciation or grammar.
Can a teacher and a parent share one device?
Yes. Tolkivo is made for two people with one phone or tablet between them, and it detects which of the two chosen languages each person is speaking.
