Doctor visit translation: describe symptoms and medication
With the Doctor visits scene, Tolkivo helps you and clinic staff understand each other when you describe symptoms, name your medication or fill in reception paperwork. It is a non-diagnostic communication aid, with the original and translation side by side so both of you can check what was said.
Tolkivo is a non-diagnostic communication aid. It is not medical interpreting and does not give a diagnosis or a basis for treatment. For important medical decisions, consent and emergencies, rely on a professional medical interpreter.
Before the visit
Choose your two languages and the Doctor visits scene. Tolkivo adapts its wording to symptoms, examinations, medication and allergies, so these terms come out more accurately. Write down when your symptoms started, the names of your medication and any allergies, so you can say them in short sentences.
At reception and in the consultation room
Tell the staff that you are using a translation app, and place the phone between you. Speak one short sentence at a time, and let the other person read the translation before you continue. When a number, a date, a dose or the word “not” matters, ask the other person to confirm it on the screen.
After the visit
The conversation is saved as text on your device, and raw audio is not saved to conversation history by default. You can reread what was said, and ask for AI review to list the symptoms, medication names and points to confirm that appear in the conversation. Take any unclear point back to the clinic or a pharmacist.
Example: at a clinic reception desk
Hello. I have had a cough and a sore throat since Monday.

熱はありますか。今朝、体温を測りましたか。

はい、今朝は37.8度でした。
現在飲んでいる薬や、薬のアレルギーはありますか。
Are you taking any medication now, or do you have any drug allergies?

毎朝、血圧の薬を飲んでいます。アレルギーはありません。
わかりました。この問診票にご記入のうえ、保険証をお見せください。
I understand. Please fill in this medical questionnaire and show me your insurance card.
What AI review lists after a doctor visit
AI review only organizes what was actually said. It does not add a diagnosis, medication advice or anything that is not in the conversation, and AI interpretation may be inaccurate. Each item links back to the original and translation.
- Symptoms, body parts and durations, as they were described in the conversation
- Medication names, doses and units, quoted as they were spoken
- Examinations and allergies that were mentioned
- Points to confirm with the clinic or a pharmacist, including anything that was unclear
Tips for doctor visits
- Bring your medication or its packaging, so the staff can read the name directly.
- Say numbers, dates and doses slowly, and confirm them on the screen with the other person.
- Answer yes-or-no questions with a full sentence, such as “I have no allergies”, so a negative is not lost.
- For a diagnosis, consent, a treatment decision or an emergency, ask for a professional medical interpreter and do not rely on Tolkivo alone.
